Accessibility Statement

The Prepared Citizen
Including T.P.C. Training & Consulting and The Prepared Kid

Last Updated: August 17, 2026

Our Commitment to Accessibility

The Prepared Citizen is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible experience for all individuals, including people with disabilities.

This commitment applies to The Prepared Citizen, T.P.C. Training & Consulting, The Prepared Kid, and the programs, services, educational resources, training opportunities, and digital content we provide.

We believe preparedness and safety education should be available to as many people as reasonably possible. We therefore strive to make our website, digital resources, communications, registration processes, and training programs accessible and usable by individuals with a wide range of abilities and access needs.

Accessibility is an ongoing effort. As our website, programs, technology, and educational materials evolve, we will continue working to identify and address accessibility barriers.

Digital Accessibility Standards

We strive to design, maintain, and improve our website with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA as our current accessibility goal and reference standard.

WCAG provides guidance for making digital content more accessible to individuals with disabilities, including individuals who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, voice-control technology, magnification software, captions, and other assistive technologies.

Our use of WCAG 2.2 Level AA as an accessibility goal should not be interpreted as a representation that every page, feature, document, third-party component, or item of content currently satisfies every WCAG 2.2 Level AA success criterion at all times.

Accessibility is affected by many factors, including website technology, browser and device combinations, assistive technologies, third-party applications, newly added content, and ongoing website changes. We continually seek to improve accessibility as issues are identified.

Accessibility Measures

As part of our ongoing accessibility efforts, we seek to incorporate practices such as:

Logical Page Structure. We strive to organize pages using meaningful headings and a logical reading order so that content is easier to understand and navigate.

Keyboard Accessibility. We strive to make important website functionality available to individuals who navigate using a keyboard rather than a mouse or touchscreen.

Alternative Text. We seek to provide meaningful alternative text for images that convey important information, while appropriately identifying decorative images when possible.

Readable Text. We seek to use fonts, sizing, spacing, and layouts that promote readability across common devices and screen sizes.

Color and Contrast. We strive to maintain sufficient contrast between text, controls, and backgrounds and to avoid relying exclusively on color to communicate important information.

Links and Controls. We seek to use descriptive links, identifiable buttons, and controls that communicate their purpose to users.

Forms. We strive to design registration, contact, and other forms with meaningful labels, instructions, and error information.

Screen Reader Compatibility. We seek to structure our website so that commonly used assistive technologies can identify and interpret important content and controls.

Responsive Design. We strive to make our website usable across desktop computers, laptops, tablets, smartphones, and different screen sizes.

Multimedia. When practical and appropriate, we seek to provide captions, transcripts, text alternatives, or other accessible methods of accessing important information presented through audio or video.

Documents and Downloads. We seek to make important downloadable materials accessible where reasonably practicable and to provide an alternative format when an inaccessible document creates a barrier to accessing our programs or services.

Motion and Animation. We seek to avoid unnecessary motion or visual effects that may interfere with accessibility and to provide appropriate controls where reasonably possible.

Compatibility With Assistive Technology

Our website is intended to function with commonly used modern web browsers and assistive technologies.

Individual experiences may vary depending on the combination of browser, operating system, device, browser settings, assistive technology, and other software being used.

If you encounter difficulty accessing information with your assistive technology, please contact us. We will work with you to identify an appropriate alternative means of accessing the information or service whenever reasonably possible.

Third-Party Content and Services

Our website may include or link to third-party services that we do not fully control.

These may include services used for website hosting, payment processing, scheduling, course registration, maps, social media, video hosting, forms, learning-management systems, credentialing, certification, or other functions.

The accessibility of these services may depend in whole or in part on technology developed and maintained by the third-party provider.

Although we cannot directly control all aspects of third-party platforms, we seek to select and use services that support accessible experiences when reasonably practicable.

If a third-party feature creates an accessibility barrier that prevents you from obtaining information, registering for a program, making a purchase, or otherwise accessing a TPC service, please contact us. We will make reasonable efforts to provide the information or service through an alternative accessible method when appropriate.

Accessibility of Training Programs and Services

Our commitment to accessibility extends beyond this website.

The Prepared Citizen offers training and educational programs in a variety of locations, which may include schools, churches, businesses, community facilities, training facilities, shooting ranges, outdoor locations, and other third-party venues.

Because we do not own or control every training location, the physical accessibility features available at each venue may vary.

We seek to provide individuals with disabilities meaningful access to our programs and services and to consider reasonable modifications, auxiliary aids, communication methods, and other accessibility measures as required by applicable law.

If you have a disability-related access need, accommodation request, or question concerning the accessibility of a particular training location or program, please contact us.

When possible, contacting us before a scheduled program can give us additional opportunity to coordinate with the participant, instructor, host facility, or sponsoring organization. However, we will consider accessibility requests whenever they are made.

Depending on the circumstances, accessibility considerations may include accessible routes and entrances, seating arrangements, restroom accessibility, communication assistance, alternative instructional formats, modification of certain activities, accessibility of course materials, or other reasonable measures.

The nature of some practical training activities may impose legitimate safety or operational limitations. When a requested modification cannot reasonably be provided or would fundamentally change an activity or create a significant safety concern, we will seek to discuss other reasonable methods of providing meaningful access where appropriate.

The Prepared Kid Accessibility

We are particularly committed to making The Prepared Kid welcoming and accessible to children with disabilities.

Parents and legal guardians are encouraged to contact us regarding reasonable accommodations or accessibility needs that may help a child participate meaningfully in a Prepared Kid program.

Depending on the program and the child's needs, reasonable modifications may include changes to instructional presentation, additional explanation, alternative formats, seating arrangements, additional time, sensory considerations, communication methods, or modification of certain activities where appropriate.

Parents and guardians are not expected to provide unnecessary medical information. We may request only information reasonably relevant to understanding and addressing an accommodation, participation, communication, or safety need.

When a Prepared Kid program is provided through a school or other organization, we may work with the sponsoring organization and parent or guardian, as appropriate, to support accessible participation.

Accessibility of Communications

We want individuals with disabilities to be able to communicate effectively with us.

If you require information in an alternative format or need assistance communicating with us because of a disability, please contact us and describe the type of assistance you need.

Depending on the circumstances, an alternative communication method may include accessible electronic text, large-print material, written communication, captioned material, or another appropriate method.

We will evaluate requests based on the individual's needs, the nature of the communication, available resources, applicable law, and the circumstances involved.

Alternative Formats

If information available through our website or training materials is not accessible to you, you may request the information in an alternative format.

Please identify the specific webpage, document, form, course material, video, or other content you are having difficulty accessing and, if known, the format or accommodation that would assist you.

We will make reasonable efforts to provide accessible information or an effective alternative method of access.

Ongoing Accessibility Efforts

Accessibility is not a one-time project.

We may periodically review our website and digital content, use accessibility evaluation tools, conduct manual reviews, respond to user feedback, update website elements, and modify our practices as accessibility guidance, technology, and our services evolve.

New content and features may occasionally introduce accessibility issues that were not present previously. We encourage users to notify us when they identify a problem so that we can evaluate and address it.

Known Limitations and Areas for Improvement

Despite our efforts, some portions of our website or third-party services may not yet provide an optimal accessible experience for every user.

Potential limitations may include legacy content, documents created by third parties, externally hosted media, third-party applications or widgets, or content that has not yet been fully evaluated with all combinations of assistive technology.

The inclusion of this section does not mean that we have identified a particular barrier affecting every user. Instead, it reflects our recognition that digital accessibility requires ongoing testing, maintenance, and improvement.

We welcome reports of specific accessibility problems.

Reporting an Accessibility Issue

If you experience difficulty accessing our website, completing a form, registering for training, accessing course information, obtaining a document, or participating in one of our programs because of a disability-related accessibility barrier, please contact us.

When contacting us, it is helpful if you provide:

  • The webpage, document, program, or service involved;

  • A description of the accessibility problem;

  • The device, browser, or assistive technology you were using, if relevant and if you are comfortable providing that information;

  • The type of alternative format or assistance you need, if known; and

  • A method by which we can contact you.

You are not required to disclose a diagnosis or unnecessary medical information simply to report a website accessibility problem.

No Retaliation

The Prepared Citizen's mission centers on helping people become safer, more capable, and more prepared.

That mission includes making reasonable efforts to ensure that people with disabilities have meaningful opportunities to access our information, education, programs, and services.
